Medical Practices
Medical providers play an important role in helping children maintain healthy smiles. The medical practices listed below can provide limited oral health services, including assessing your child’s risk for tooth decay, applying protective fluoride varnish treatment, providing education and guidance on keeping their mouth healthy, and assisting with a referral to a dental provider.
A growing number of medical offices in Maine also offer silver diamine fluoride (SDF). This topical treatment can help slow the progression of cavities and, in some cases, stop the decay from progressing.
